The event was held under the patronage of the Committee of Veterinary Sciences and Reproductive Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

The workshop was entitled: “Clinical aspects of feline reproduction: an update” and, as the title suggests, focused on the clinical aspects of feline reproduction, in particular fertility - both in the context of infertility diagnosis and treatment, as well as methods of pharmacological fertility control. Some of the lectures were also devoted to the practical aspects of feline reproductive biotechniques: semen collection and preservation, and artificial insemination. Lectures were given by both project participants: Sylwia Prochowska (Poland, Wrocław), Sabine Schäfer-Somi (Austria) and Alain Fontbonne, Juliette Roos and Zuzanna Niewiadomska (France), as well as the greatest specialists in the field of cat reproduction: Eva Axner (Sweden), Daniele Zambelli and Marco Cunto (Italy), Maria-Isabel Mello-Martins (Brazil), Aime Johnson (USA), Lluis Ferre-Dolcet and Stefano Romagnoli (Italy).

9th Congress of the Society for Reproductive Biology

On September 2-4, 2021, the 9th Congress of the Society for Reproductive Biology was took place. Four years earlier, the General Assembly of TBR Members decided to entrust the organization of the next meeting in 2020 to the Poznań Branch of our Society. Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a year ago, the Main Board of the Society decided to chenge to 2021 year and organize it online. Despite these unusual circumstances, as many as 145 participants registered for the Congress, which shows how much we want to meet, talk and present the results of our scientific and research work.
The agenda for the entire Congress included a plenary session, 6 thematic sessions and 2 mini-symposiums. During the three days, 17 lectures and 21 oral presentations were presented, which were selected by the Scientific Committee of the Congress from all submitted applications. On the first day, conference participants listened to, among others, lectures by two winners of the Professor Bielański, awarded to young scientists by the award jury - Justyna Gogolu-Mruk, MA and Marcin Śmiałek, PhD. Then, a general meeting of the members of the Society for Reproductive Biology was held, during which the new TBR Board was elected. On the second day of the conference, an interesting event was the meeting entitled "Meet my profesor" dedicated to young students of science. All participants listened with great interest to the stories of the invited guests - prof. dr hab. Barbara Bilińska and prof. dr hab. Marcin Drąg - about the most important moments in their scientific careers, the greatest achievements, but also the problems they had to face. During two poster sessions, it was possible to see 85 posters presented in PDF format and in the form of short multimedia presentations.
The conference ended with the ceremonial announcement of the results of the competition for young scientists for the best oral presentations and posters. This year, the winners of the prizes are: first prize for oral presentation - Maria Guzewska, MA (IRZiBŻ PAN in Olsztyn), medicine Gabriela Sokołowska (Medical University in Białystok); first prize for the poster - mgr Ewelina Palak (IRZiBŻ PAN in Olsztyn); second prize for the poster - mgr Beata Nosal (University of Agriculture in Krakow) and mgr Alicja Żochowska (IRZiBŻ PAN in Olsztyn). The congress ended with an invitation to the next jubilee meeting, which is planned in 2024 in Warsaw. We all have great hope that in three years we will be able to meet in a traditional way, which will allow for even more fruitful scientific discussions and the development of new paths of cooperation between the members of our Society.
